Welcome txted, the newest artist to the Boomarm family. Based in the Pacific Northwest, txted is the musical project of Dr. Shawn Trail, a visionary music technologist, percussionist, nomadic scholar, and studio wizard. These recordings stem from experiments with new interfaces inspired by traditional and neo-traditional pitched
percussion instruments. This music reflects years of research conducted as a Fulbright and PhD Fellow, leading to the development of extended digital techniques. These innovations allow pitched percussionists, specifically xylophone and lamellophone (thumb piano) players to ‘dub’ themselves live during performances, using their native instrumental gestures. Using these techniques, txted conjures electro-acoustic pitched percussion, lush soundscapes, pulsing synth waves, propulsive polyrhythms, and cyclic phased melodies dubbed into another dimension. Recorded largely in one-take performances to 1⁄4” tape, CONTEXT TRACER is a sonic telegraph formed from a networked orchestra of
memories, performed in real-time from an ancient future. Let the music breathe, and pulse through your speakers.
