“OK kids, it’s time for the O Bruxo debut show, this Sat at Langano Lounge! ..O Bruxo is my new project with long-time collaborators JMunny Johnson of Gulls and Evolutionary Jass Band and Papi Fimbres ofpaper/upper/cuts. Throw low-end time keeper Scott Blais into the mix with our twin guitar/twin drum, trumpet,flute, organ attack, and we’ve learned to bring the psychedlic cumbia sonic fury to new heights. You might even dance. Jesse’s trusty boombox dropped by a practice session a few months ago and recorded a sample, which you can find at myspace.com/obruxopdx.”

Especially about the Dub Battle.  We will be live mixing some heavy new beats courtesy of Tom Tom Thompson, a new riddem he calls “The Portland Step”. These mixes will be live straight off of 1/4inch 4 track tape to a mixer pumping full with aux sends. In the old style , if you will. 🙂

…….the deets :.. I sent out a package of loops to my closest audio twisting friends, complied of a classic cumbia columbiana riff, and a bass heavy dancehall beat. each musican is asked to use the loops as fuel for re-mixl fuel. And creates a short 40second track. once the tracks are compiled they will be sewn toghether to create a seemless rollercoaster of a mix. …suitable for wylin out, mowwin the grass, or cooking up some steaks to.
